Jeanno Gaussi, Zora Mann und Nina Zeljković

Der Berliner Ausstellungsraum BOX Freiraum freut sich, unter dem Titel Global Female Inventories eine Gruppenausstellung mit Arbeiten von drei Künstlerinnen zu präsentieren.

Für das diesjährige Project Space Festival präsentiert NOTE ON im BOX Freiraum drei Positionen transkultureller künstlerischer Praxis aus weiblicher Perspektive. Jeanno Gaussi, Zora Mann und Nina Zeljković beschäftigen sich auf jeweils eigentümliche Weise mit glokal kodierten und non-individuellen Objektsammlungen und -inventaren. Während Jeanno Gaussi Objekte wie traditionelle afghanische Kleidung rekontextualisiert oder Skateboards als Leinwände einsetzt, spürt Zora Mann in ihren Malereien, Druckgrafiken und Schutzschilden der Formsprache indigener Kunst Ostafrikas nach und verbindet diese Einflüsse u. a. mit kodierten, motivischen Zitaten aus Pop Art und Science Fiction. Nina Zeljković erforscht Ökonomien der Text- und Bildproduktion serbischer Online-Kleinanzeigenhändler_innen im Sektor Haushaltsbedarf und transferiert ihre Entdeckungen in reinszenierte Installationen. Die teils unerwarteten, teils humorvollen Inventare der drei Künstlerinnen produzieren Mehrdeutigkeiten, die nationale und kulturelle Identitätsfixationen überschreiten.

For this year’s Project Space Festival NOTE ON presents at BOX Freiraum three transcultural, artistic positions from the female perspective. Jeanno Gaussi, Zora Mann and Nina Zeljković's work encompasses glocally coded, non-individual collections and inventories. Jeanno Gaussi re-contextualises objects such as traditional Afghan clothing, or skateboards that she repurposes as canvases, while Zora Mann probes the formal language of indigenous East African art, connecting these influences with amongst others, the coded motifs of Pop Art and science fiction. Nina Zeljković explores the economics of text and image production used in Serbian online classified ads selling household items, and transfers her research into restaged installations. The at times unexpected and humorous inventories of these three artists result in multi-facetted meanings that cross national and cultural identity fixations.
